Johannesburg and nearby Randsburg are small little towns rich in history and intrigue. Why would people settle in this god forsaken wilderness in the middle of the Mojave Desert with no water source? Money, that's why. Mining used to flourish here and there are numerous mines still located here as well as some great antique stores.
