I remember going to this event when they bussed everyone to the main lodge and back. It was insane trying to get back after the event. I think we tried to wait a cycle or two and still felt like cattle. The village gondola should make it a lot easier. I always recommend taking it easy and not trying to be the first person home.
Then again the village gondola may just move the parking problem. The underground parking is limited to hotel guests during the ski season. They lift this restriction during the summer but then nobody remembers it or sees the entrance..... or nobody can find the one elevator available for public access... or risks being run over, hazarding the automobile entrance. Then again, three different areas may just work. Canyon Lodge parking at the site of the event, Village underground parking and the public parking across the street. If that is not enough, we'll be thankful for someone to keep the ski area buses running. If anyone remembers the monorail, that story was too much like The Simpsons.
"...if i remember right it was a monorail tram that went from the chair 2 parking lot up to the main lodge...it was real big and boxy and seemed to always break down, i heard one day it just fell off the track at the main lodge (injuries??) but i am not sure; maybe one of the locals would know better....in my opinion that thing was a huge debaucle and was quickly removed"
