Climbing in the Eastern Sierra has a rich and exciting history filled with legend and intrigue. Arrowheads have been found on some of the highest peaks and so much of the history is va00gue and incomplete. Today there is an explosion of new age climbers flocking to the Eastern Sierra in search of the perfect bouldering site or sport climb and those climbers are having a tough time. Not because they can't find the different areas, but instead they get sidetracked at another as yet unreported set of boulders that are perfect.

There are so many bouldering areas (piles of rocks) that you could spend a lifetime just getting all the roads dialed in, let alone trying all the problems. And this is just the bouldering. Some of the sport climbs are of epic difficulty with overhanging thin routes that may get you all fired up.

The sport climbs are heavily protected unlike the desperate nature of Tuolumne where running it out is the first ascensionists mantra. A new sport climbing area is evolving in the Alabama Hills near Lone Pine. Steep and well bolted routes are popping up and the similarities with the Joshua Tree area are astounding. The traditional high mountain routes and big wall epics are still there and the sky is the limit when it comes to fine routes in the High Sierra. You see, the High Sierra is the home of the finest granite in the world and it is endless. Big walls, sporty routes, or bouldering sessions, this is the trilogy of perfection that invites one to climb in the Eastern Sierra.
